The DTHF colourful mobile unit, the Tutu Tester is on the road again, this time in Hout Bay. The unit provides a wellness package of health services in addition to HIV testing. International funding that had supported the project since 2008 came to an end in September 2012. Thanks to a partnership with Metropolitan Health Group and Discovery Health the Tutu Tester is back in service in the Mitchells Plain/Klipfontein sub-district.
The Tutu Tester team are working closely with local clinics to ensure clients who need further treatment are linked to care. The vehicle has a specific route with regular visits to selected sites the first being “The Farm” in Mitchells Plain on the Cape Flats. The area of Philippi will be included in the route from the beginning of March.
