With the significant shifts in the provision of gender-affirming care following recent funding cuts, access to services has become increasingly fragmented and, for many, difficult to navigate. In response, the Desmond Tutu Health Foundation (DTHF) LGBT+ Health Division, together with partner organisations, has identified an urgent need to consolidate up-to-date information on where gender-affirming services are currently available. The aim is to ensure that both clients and healthcare providers can more easily locate and access appropriate, affirming care within an evolving and often uncertain service landscape.
To address this gap, the DTHF LGBT+ Health Division has developed two practical info sheets that map available gender-affirming care services across Cape Town. By clearly categorising services, the info sheets are designed to support informed decision-making, facilitate referrals, and reduce barriers to care.
