“…not only have I gained knowledge from you guys but I have gained friendship and family [who] are compassionate, and supporting, and loving,” says Siphokhazi when asked to reflect on the experience of participating in one of many DTHF health & wellness development initiatives.
Siphokhazi’s experience is typical of the adolescents who benefit from the diversity of support we offer. It is your generosity – our friends, donors, and concerned citizens alike- who sustain our capacity to continue to find new ways to help the key populations in communities of the Western Cape. Siphokhazi, like millions of young people all over South Africa, struggles to flourish against the odds in this era of COVID-19. Similar to many young people and caregivers in South Africa, the national lockdown has interrupted Siphokhazi’s ability to support herself financially. Therefore we are once again reaching out to you in this unprecedented time of restriction and hardship and appeal for your financial support to help us help Siphokhazi and others just like her.
We would like to remind you that our mandate is to help South African young people imagine the future in terms of their natural ability, strengths, virtues, and other personal assets and attributes. Our programmes are designed with input from biomedical and social science experts, along with community members, to facilitate differentiated health and wellness care for the youth in our communities and disrupt the spread of HIV, TB, COVID-19, and other life-threatening reproductive diseases. However, in the absence of a healthy diet or the ways and means to access healthy food, Siphokhazi and her friends are cheated out of their right to flourish and make health-promoting life choices.
Through your financial support, you can make a difference in Siphokhazi’s life and hundreds of youth like her. By donating to this cause and campaign, you can help us provide the critical needs of each young person we reach in the form of a food voucher.
Please show your support by donating at out GivenGain campaign platform below, and sharing our appeal with your own friends and family.
