Desmond Tutu Health Foundation/HIV Centre currently sustains nine well-established clinical research sites, which are based in Cape Town, Western Province, with the exception of the Buffalo City site that is located in the Eastern Cape. In the first quarter of 2022, DTHF head office moved from the Institute of Infectious Disease and Molecular Medicine at the University of Cape Town into our very own space in Woodstock, close to the Cape Town CBD.

Our headquarters do not have clinical facilities on site and instead all available physical space is utilized for administrative purposes. There are 43 offices in total, including multiple meeting spaces for project teams, a boardroom for trainings and conferences, as well as an open plan area for roving site-based staff who visit DTHF HQ. The Chief Executive Officer and all academic faculty members have offices in this area, complementary to their field offices. The Chief Operations Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Human Resources Manager, IT Manager, Facilities Manager, and Resource Mobilization Manager all have their offices in this area, along with their administrative support staff. Headquarters in addition houses the UCT CTU (Clinical Trials Unit) Core Office and their administrative staff.

Being based in Woodstock allows for ease and frequent attendance of meetings at UCT to continue the organizational affiliation.
